The articles in this section can give some pointers to train on certain canoeing skills. None of them will replace formal instruction and all of the assume you can already have a decent level of boat controll. You'll notice there are quite some flatwater drills present as well. They actually are fun when paddling with a couple people together. Next to that, they are essential skill builders. If you don't know how to do it on flatwater, you'll certainly don't know how to do it on the river. Even without whitewater ambitions these drills are nice to do. Your performance in your boat will increase, leaving you more time for enjoying the surroundings. The dry-land exercises are probably for those who want to get the most out of the paddling. These exercises will train particular paddling muscles and help improve your strenght in the paddling-required areas.
