Title: Whitewater Self Defense Type: DVD Where to get: http://www.performancevideo.com This is a must see video for whitewater paddlers. Whitewater paddling is a sport that is including some risks. Knowing what the risks are and how to reduce them is crucial for every paddler. Not every paddler should be taking a Swift Water Rescue course, but every paddler has to know how to behave on whitewater and should at least have a notice of commonly used rescue techniques. This video hands you more then an introduction in rescue techniques. Hopefully with lots of techniques you'll never need. Knowing what techniques are available is the first step. Next you should move on to training the demonstrated techniques. Swimming in a current and using a throwbag are the absolute minimum skills for every paddler. You'll notice this video is based mainly on kayaks. This doesn't mean it's not suitable for canoeing. And on the river it's most often a mixed group after all. Watch it, and stay safe! |
