The Open Canoe Festival is Europe’s Premier Canoe Rendez-Vous.
It will take place on April 23/24/25, on the turquoise waters of the Drôme river (located 1H30 South from Lyon, 30 minutes from Valence highway exit).
The first Open Canoe Festival organized in 2010 was a huge success : more than 200 participants came from 6 different countries. Media coverage was really important (magazines, newspapers, radios) and the reputation of the first event made a fantastic Buzz on the Web (forums, magazines, tourism sites...).
The 2011 edition should host about 350 participants.
The Open Canoe Festival proposes 3 days of technical and safety clinics, boat tests, manufacturer booths, free tasting of local specialties, parties, prize lotery, and of course some fantastic runs on the turquoise waters of the Drôme river, which offers more than 30 Km of easy and scenic paddling at the gates of the Provence area.
If we can't guarantee the incredible weather and water levels we had in 2010, we can promise a friendly atmosphere, some fantastic landscapes, a great T-shirt, tons of gear to win, top notch canoe instructors, the legendary paella, the fiesta, tons of canoe free trials, several tasting sessions of local specialties... All that makes the sweet way of life of the Drôme valley !
We have just launched the Open Canoe Festival new website thanks to our long time partner : the Canoe Company. In this website, you will find all the informations plus a maximum of images from the 2010 event. Just for the smiles and the river colour, we’re pretty sure you’ll be tempted to participate to the 2011 event ! This new version of the website will give you the latest News from the Festival.

Tony Pape, well known canoe instructor, joins the staff to propose some clinics to our English speaking participants.
More tasting sessions of local specialties will be proposed.
A solo open canoe will be awarded by drawing lots, as well as many other great pieces of gear.
